Nha Trang hosts workshop on search, rescue missions at sea

A two-day workshop on building capacity of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in search and rescue missions at sea was held in Nha Trang Cty in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on July 18.

A two-day workshop on building capacity of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in search and rescue missions at sea was held in Nha Trang Cty in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on July 18.

More than 50 representatives of APEC took part in the two-day forum organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The delegates discussed experiences in search and rescue operations at sea, process and technological applications, international efforts in rescue missions at sea, and cooperation by APEC.

According to experts, maritime business and transport accounts for 90 percent of global trade transactions. However, natural disasters at sea have also caused great human and material losses, and search and rescue work at sea is more difficult than on the mainland.
