Nearly 1000 workers were recruited at a job fair for young Chinese speakers and Chinese language students at Phu Tho Stadium, District 11 on January 3.
The fair, which attracted 68 businesses and over 3,250 applicants, was held by the city Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Hoa (Chinese) community.
The businesses, which also advertise jobs online, were looking to fill 6,000 Chinese speaking positions.
Jobs on offer included translation, business administration, finance, information technology, sales and various work during the Tet holiday.
More than half or 1,850 of the job seekers at the fair were interviewed and 968 were given employment.
Many businesses required experience which limited the opportunities for recent graduates.
