Last workers from Libya already home

By 8 am this morning (Wednesday) the last group of 209 workers from Libya  returned home safely. 

Flight VN 8686, carrying workers and Vice Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung from Tunisia , landed at Noi Bai International Airport . The flight will be the tenth and last of the largest ever “air bridge” launched by the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, to transport Vietnamese workers in Libya home.

 

Those Vietnamese workers, accompanied by the governmental inter-branch working team in Tunisia , were welcomed and handed flowers at the airport by Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Ngan informed that so far as many as 10,000 Vietnamese guest workers had escaped from political chaos in Libya . According to Ms Ngan, the Japanese Hamanasu ship carrying more than 1,000 Vietnamese workers aboard, which left the port of Benghazi in Libya on March 3, was expected to dock at Hai Phong port on March 21. Apart form this, some other 292 Vietnamese workers in Algeria and  67 in Egypt are currently on other commercial flights heading home, she said.

 

She also announced a good news that  Khang Thong group of companies (Long An province) are willing to hire all 10,000 workers returning from Libya to work in the project “Happy land”.

 

Labor Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs would help to find new employment in a foreign country for the workers who returned from Libya and want to work abroad.
