The KOJIMA, a Japanese Coastguard Training Vessel carrying a crew of 82 officers, sailors and cadets, docked at Tien Sa Port in the central coastal city of Da Nang on July 30.
Representatives from the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of National Defense, Vietnam Marine Police Department, Border Guard Command and Da Nang People’s Committee received the Japanese guests.
The ship’s crew will visit the Da Nang People’s Committee, Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre Region II, Marine Police Vessels of Coast Guard Region 2 and also see the stunning landscapes of Da Nang.
The visit will contribute to strengthening international cooperation between Vietnam Marine Police and Japanese Coast Guard, which was first established in 2000.
Under the assistance of the Japanese Government, the Japan Marine Police has offered scholarships to Vietnamese partners to study at the Japan Coast Guard Academy in Hiroshima City since 2012, said Colonel Phu Van Lam, Head of the Foreign Relations Office of the Vietnam Marine Police.
