Highway toll set to increase starting April 1

The General Vietnam Infrastructure Development & Finance Investment (VIDIFI) announced yesterday the proposed new toll for the Hanoi-Hai Phong highway, the most modern of its kind in Vietnam and National Highway No.5 will be started to collect on April 1.

Accordingly, minimum fee for the Hanoi-Hai Phong highway will be VND 210,000 per vehicle and maximum is VND 840,000, up 25 percent. The toll at Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) stations on National Highway No.5 will be VND 45,000 and VND 200,000, up 50 percent.

Representative from VIDIFI said, the adjustment is to fix with finance plan approved by ministries, departments.

In 2013, National Highway No.5 was repaired with a total cost of VND 800billion and in 2014 the ministry of transport invested more VND 100billion. It is estimated to invest about VND 300billion in 2016.

The Hanoi-Haiphong highway & No.5 help enhance connectivity in provinces & in the region and boost the socio-economic development in the country.
