He made statement at a ceremony themed “Spending more on grass-root medical clinics with orientation of covering health community” organized by the Ministry of Health yesterday to mark 63rd anniversary of Vietnamese Doctor Day in Hanoi.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien along with many leaders of party organizations, departments, outstanding medical workers attended the ceremony.
Mr. Dam stressed the health sector to enhance IT application in treatment procedure in district –level medical facilities adding that developing grass-root clinics with orientation of the community health coverage is an important mission; hence, it requires the sector’s determined efforts and the entire machinery of state’s support.
He proposed party committees and local governments to pay more attention to investment in health sector especially in district-level clinics. Furthermore, he called for buying health insurance in protecting their health and assisting medical workers’ who work relentlessly to take care of people’s health.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said that 2018 is the first year the health sector carried out the Central Committee Communist Party of Vietnam’s decree No. 20/NQ-TW on strengthening and taking care of people’s health condition and the decree 21/NQ-TW on population.
Accordingly, the mission of taking care of the community’s health requires medical workers to remember Uncle Ho’s teaching “Good doctors are like your mamas”. Moreover, the sector has to renovate with medical workers’ improved behaviors for patients’ patience.
Health Minister stressed the sector’s achievements in taking care of patients such as reducing patient overload, improving treatment quality, revamping administrative formalities to facilitate patients and implementing advanced techniques in treating in past years.
She emphasized that one of highlights is that the sector innovated financial mechanism by hiking medical service along with health insurance coverage as per market economy with orientation of socialism.
However, the implementation of policies and achievement has benefitted some people; therefore, it needs more policies for others especially to ensure those in mountainous and distant districts able to access to healthcare services.
On behalf of the Party and the government, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam sent his congratulation to all medical workers praising the sector’s concerted efforts in serving people’s health.
At the ceremony, the giving ceremony of the reproductive letter of Uncle Ho to the health sector in 1955 was also held. Additionally, outstanding workers were given presents on the occasion.
