Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong yesterday afternoon welcomed Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong at Reunification Palace in the city during the visit of the Singapore leader to Vietnam.

At the meeting with the Singaporean PM, the city leader stressed that Vietnam always respects and expands friendship relations with the partner on a foundation for bilateral & multilateral cooperation, general benefit of the two nations, maintaining regional and global peace, stability, cooperation and development.
Ho Chi Minh City always pays priorities for enhancing cooperation with Singapore, the city leader said.
Last year, two- way import- export turnover between Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore reached at over US$ 3.3 billion.
Currently, the country is the largest investor of Ho Chi Minh City with its 930 projects and total investment capital up to over US$ 10 billion.
Many economic groups and large- scale companies of Singapore as Sembcorp, Ascendas, Keppel Land and Capitalland have contributed into city’s socio- economic development.
Chairman Phong appreciated support from Singapore in scholarships as well as training programs for Vietnamese pupils, students and staffs, and desired to continue receiving the practical support.
The city leader suggested Singapore to strengthen experience exchange in management and development of an intelligent city.
PM Lee Hsien Loong appreciated HCMC's potential in development, and he highlighted that more than 900 projects of Singaporean investors are proving attention of his country’s businesses to the Vietnamese market.
Singapore will continue enhancing cooperation activities with the city in the upcoming time.
The Singaporean PM and his wife are expected to visit Singaporean businesses, talk with the Singaporean enterprise community, visit city's historical sites and participate in the opening ceremony of green office building Mapletree Center in district 7.
