At the meeting, Ms. Cecilia Piccioni informed Mr. Nhan of cooperation projects between Italy and HCMC and the southern region of Vietnam in economics and culture.
They comprise Vietnam-Italy footwear technology center opened on July 12, Italia-Vietnam garment and textile center project at HCMC University of Technology. In addition, an exhibition of Raffaello paintings is expected to be organized in HCMC.
Ms. Piccioni proposed city leaders to support an Italy financed project to develop small and medium enterprise (SME) assistance center, showing her interest in infrastructure development projects in the city including second metro line Ben Thanh-Tham Luong.
She committed to supporting her best to connect cooperation between HCMC and Torino and Milan cities.
Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan welcomed the cooperation goodwill of Italy and Italian businesses who are investing in HCMC.
He hoped that Italy and HCMC will bolster cooperation in leather processing, one of important phases to make good quality leather shoes. He pledged to facilitate the implementation of the SME assistance center project.
At the meeting with Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish, the two sides said that 2017 is an important year in Vietnam-India relations. This year, the two countries celebrate the 54th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership.
Mr. Nhan expressed happiness to see the two countries’ collaboration relations continuously develop in all fields for the last past.
India now has 60 investment projects worth $60 million in HCMC which Mr. Nhan said it was still modest compared to the country’s economic potential.
The two sides hoped that their good traditional cooperation relationship in various fields will further develop in the upcoming time.
