Vietnam Fatherland and Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with Fund Management Council for the native land's sea and islands yesterday organized a ceremony, aiming to review its popularization activities as well as implementation programs in 2015.
Last year, Vietnam Standing Fatherland and Front Committee of HCMC and Fund Management Council received nearly VND 52 billion. More than 200 organizations, companies, businesses, schools and individuals donated around VND 19, 2 billion.
Accordingly, the city delegations organized the visits and offered gifts to residents, staffs, soldiers, fishermen and maritime police forces, who live and work in Spratly Island, DK1 Frame House, Phu Quy Island, Ly Son Island District and others.
Moreover, the city delegations also visited recruits at training centers. the city authorities in collaboration with city’s border guard offered 43 houses to soldiers and maritime police forces in Dong Thap, An Giang, Bac Lieu and Soc Trang provinces.
Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper launched its meaningful popularization activities for the country’s sea, islands such as “Joining hand for Sea and Islands” program and “Taking care of soldiers' and fishermen's families” fund. Accordingly, over 820 scholarships with a total of VND 777 million were handed over children of staffs, soldiers and fishermen.

On this occasion, Vietnam Fatherland and Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City granted certificates to 119 groups and 62 individuals, who have actively contributed in protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands.
