HCMC commemorates Rach Gia-Hung Long massacre

A ceremony commemorating 70 years of 200 soldiers and unarmed civilians killed in Rach Gia-Hung Long in Ho Chi Minh City’s Binh Chanh district was held on May 11.

Former President Truong Tan Sang, Vietnamese Heoric Mothers, war veterans, local authorities’ leaders and local residents attended at the event. The delegation offered flowers and incenses to fallen soldiers and people who laid down their lives for national independence and the freedom.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Binh Chanh district’s Party Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Dung reviewed the glorious history and tradition of revolutionary struggle and commemorated the mass killings in 1948 in Rach Gia.
After the Liberation Day, Binh Chanh rural agricultural district has nowadays changed into a small industrial and handicraft district. The district earned more than VND1,800 billion in total budget collection in 2017, increased by 9 times against 2003.
