The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Upgrading Project Management Unit (HUUP) has started on a project to upgrade the Tan Hoa-Lo Gom canal along 6, 11, Tan and Tan Phu Districts on December 13.
A total amount of approximately VND2,000 billion (US$90 million) will be invested in building culverts along the 3km-canal from Au Co Street in Tan Binh District to Hoa Binh Bridge in District 11, improving the 7.4 kilometer stretch of the canal and for constructing a 12 kilometer road along the canal.
The project will also include building of 10 new bridges, dredging of the canal, widening it and controlling the flow of the water as well as beautify sites along the canal in four districts.
