A ceremony marking the 66th Indian Republic Day (January 26, 1950) was held at the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on January 26.
Speaking at the event, Indian Consul General Smita Pant emphasized the sustainable relationship and cooperation for mutual benefits that are built on the firm foundation created by President Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and President Ho Chi Minh.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tat Thanh Cang said that Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities usually take the initiative on strengthening cooperation with India. He believed that the two countries will make every effort to enhance the cooperation and relations between India and Vietnam.
In 2014, the two-way trade between the city and India reached 765 million USD. Indian firms have invested about 6.38 million USD in the city.
