LAGONISSI, Greece, May 18, 2011 (AFP) - Greece must "accelerate" its structural reforms or its tortuous economic recovery will "run off track," the head of the IMF's mission to the country said on Wednesday.
"It is essential that there is a significant acceleration of restructuring reforms in the public sector," Poul Thomsen, the global lender's deputy European director, told a conference near Athens.
He warned that without faster reforms, the economic overhaul monitored by the European Union and the IMF which last year rescued Greece from bankruptcy with a massive loan "will run off track."
