Gov’t spends VND165 bil as flood relief for flood-stricken provinces

Vietnamese Prime Minister decided to give financial aid to flooding-ravaged central provinces, said the People’s Committee in the central province of Thua Thien- Hue on December 26.

As per the decision, VND165 billion from state budget will be allocated to eight central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and the northern province of Quang Ninh with VND10 billion, VND45 billion, VND30 billion, VND35 billion, VND15 billion, VND10 billion, VND10 billion and VND10 billion respectively.

The amount will be used for supporting poor households and repairing infrastructure.

In related news, in Hanoi, Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee President Nguyen Thien Nhan said that people in the northern province of Thai Nguyen donated VND1 billion for supporting localities which were stricken by floods in the central provinces and the Highlands provinces.

The Fatherland Front Committee will soon transfer the sum to people to help them have prosperous Tet holidays (Lunar New Year).
