The Government has submitted a press planning project to the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party for the last time in March, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son told the press on April 25.

The Government would consider promulgating the plan to fully implement it, he said.

Previously, the press planning project had been sent to the Politburo twice. The Politburo had given their opinions in writing and asked the Government to continue improving it.

Judging the project a vital, delicate and urgent matter that will have large social impacts, the Politburo asked the Government’s Civil Affairs Committee to submit it to the Central Party Committee.

According to Mr. Son, Vietnam now has as many as 838 press agencies and over 300 radio and television stations.

The press planning is in accordance with Clause 17 in the Press Law and a Government’s important task which was started nine years ago.
