An exchange between French-Vietnamese author Anna Moi and readers will be held at the French Culture Centre L'Espace Hanoi, on 24 Trang Tien St, on June 13.
The meeting is a chance for audiences to discover and discuss her works, readings of excerpts with the participation of Professor of Letters Manuel Bengoéchéa.
Anna Moï, who real name is Tran Thien Nga, was born on August 1, 1955 in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City). After obtaining a bachelor degree at the French lycée Marie Curie Saigon, she moved to Paris in 1970 where she studied history at the University of Nanterre.
Her meeting with stylists Troubled Agnes (Agnes B) and Philippe Guibourgé (Dior, Chanel) had helped her to work in the fashion industry. During the 1980s, she lived in Bangkok and Tokyo. She can speak Vietnamese, French, Thai, Japanese, English and German.
In 1992 she came back Saigon & began writing chronicles in French for a Vietnamese-French magazine.
She released two short stories about contemporary Vietnam, L’écho des rizières (The Echo of the Paddyfield) and Parfum de pagode (Pagoda Perfume) in 2001 and 2003.
Her first novel, Black rice, was published in 2004 by Gallimard. Her next novel, “The Poison Butterfly” will be released in January 2017 by Gallimard.
