Lately, the project “ Xin chao, chung to la to he” ( Hello, we are toy figurines) of second graders in Vinschool Central Park in Binh Thanh District has won third prize of the innovative education forum 2020 jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and Microsoft Vietnam.
Project leader teacher Ngo Thi Tuyet Nhung said that students were trained how to use software such as google form, sway, flipgrid, powerpoint as well as delivery skills for public speaking, group and team-work skill, model designing from scraps, and story-writing skill.
A project member, student Le Quynh Chi, shared that her group members had to make toy figurines which were later used in cartoons and video clips while student Le Minh Gia Bao made video clips to introduce toy figurines and then upload to his own YouTube.
Another group of student designed drama stage with sheets of cardboard to perform puppetry with toy figurines. Teacher Tuyet Nhung remarked that through participating in project, students understood lessons more and developed their creativeness.
Meantime, teacher Phan Thi Thu Hien of Phu Nhuan Senior High School shared that with the aim to help students to understand market and knowledge of business in the lessons for citizenship education, she specifically divided class into three groups.
Each group designed a products such as models of Ben Thanh Market, cloth bags, desk calendars to sell a fair to fund-raise for disadvantaged children.
Especially, students used Skype with English and Vietnam to introduce the country’s culture and traditional values to sell their products to international peers in the world.
In order to help students to understand living condition of poor people in rural districts where a household can’t earn VND20,000 a day from working on farm, teacher Nguyen Ly Thuy embarked on a project in which students will make 176 solar-powered household lamps and a seeding tree to gift their poor peers in the Central Highland Province of Dak Lak.
Teacher Thuy explained the project not only educated students to share responsibility but also taught them about climate changes and environment protection.
In accordance with the goal of schooling and education reform, teachers play one of significant factors as they help students to master knowledge and influence students’ motivation of learning.
