The Ministry of Transport has proposed electric vehicles travelling in certain cities and provinces as it is environmentally friendly vehicle.
The Ministry yesterday said the Prime Minister has allowed some provinces to be able to use electric vehicles to carry tourists.
Hanoi, the central provinces of Nghe An and Quang Binh, the northern province of Thanh Hoa have been approved to use electric vehicles as per the demand of these provinces under a pilot project.
Meantime, the central provinces of Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue; the central city of Da Nang; the northern provinces of Hai Phong and Lao Cai; the southern province of Ba Ria- Vung Tau had used the vehicle for tourism upon real demand of these provinces.
Through inspection in 10 provinces, the Ministry said that over 30 enterprises used 1,086 vehicles to carry visitors. According to the Ministry, it is an environmentally-friendly vehicle; however, it is not included in the road traffic law so governments are facing difficulties in managing it.
Accordingly the Ministry proposed the Prime Minister just allowing the vehicles to travel in limited cities and provinces.
In addition, the Ministry urged the Ministries of Public Security and Finance to work out regulation for registration and taxes.
