In a dispatch sent from the Government Office on the previous day, deputy Prime Minsiter Trinh Dinh Dung said that Da Nang seaport system accords with Vietnam’s seaport plan by 2020 with visions till 2030 approved by the Prime Minsiter in 2014.
Da Nang seaport is a national general port complex able to undertake the role of international gateway in the central region, comprising some major ports such as Tien Sa and Lien Chieu.
In fact, Tien Sa port’s capacity approximates only six million tons a year. So Lien Chieu port is in need of upgrading to gruadually replace Tien Sa port to meet cargo transport and socieoeconomic development demand in Da Nang city and the central region as per requirement by the Prime Minister.
In order to solve difficulties in the process of establishing and assessing the pre-feasibility report of the project, deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung has approved the proposal by the Ministry of Transport and Da Nang city People’s Committee to assign the committee to fully assume the construction of Lien Chieu port.
The committee is responsible for managing and building items of the state budget funded project according to the law.
