Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz highly appreciated notable economic achievements of the economic hub of Vietnam and hoped to develop the economic ties between the two countries, HCMC and Cuban localities.
He said that Cuba and HCMC can cooperate in fields of medicine, electronics, high technology, energy industry, machinery manufacturing, consumer goods production and tourism.

For his part, HCMC’s chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said that the conference promoting trade, investment and tourism to Cuba which was held at Melia Habana Hotel in Havana on June 4 gave HCMC’s enterprises a chance to seek cooperation and investment opportunities in Cuba.
At the meeting, the Investment & Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City signed an agreement on developing trade and investment relation, promoting Vietnamese products in Cuban market and introducing projects to Vietnamese investors with the Center for the Promotion of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba.
In addition, several cooperation agreements were signed at the conference, such as agreements between Saigontourist Holding Company and a Cuban travel company, Thai Binh Investment Joint Stock Company and the Cuban holding company Artex S.A.
The Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment said that Cuba would introduce the Mariel Special Economic Development Zone to the Vietnamese delegation. The Vietnam Glass and Ceramics for Construction Corporation (Viglacera) has invested in industrial park infrastructure, with a 168ha project in Cuba’s Mariel Special Economic Zone.
Cuba will give priority to Vietnam and create advantages for trade and investment promotion cooperation activities to reach a total value of the bilateral trade relation of US$500 million by 2020.
