A groundbreaking ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital 2 in district 9 was held in June 26.
In attendance were Primer Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Primer Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang, the municipal People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong, and Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.
The Ho Chi Minh City's second Oncology Hospital located on an area of 5.6 hectares in Tan Phu Ward. The 1,000-bed hospital has 10 floors and 2 basements that are designed on a construction area 120,000 m2. The project will cost VND5, 845 trillion (more than US$260 million).
The hospital being equipped with modern devices is expected to complete by the end of 2017 and effectively reduce pressure in the Oncology Hospital.
