Politburo member, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan led a high- ranking delegation to have a reception with overseas Vietnamese in Japan at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Japan yesterday (following the local time).
Attending in the event were Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam in Japan; Huynh Thanh Dat, Director of National University in Ho Chi Minh City; Tran Vinh Tuyen, Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and leaders of Ho Chi Minh City departments and agencies.

At the meeting with Vietnamese businessmen and intellectuals in Japan, the city Party chief Nguyen Thien Nhan introduced the city’s achievements in previous years. Especially, Ho Chi Minh City has a high percentage about laborer quality in comparison with the whole country, helping the city to achieve the highest economic growth rate as well as become the leading economic hub of the country.
Ho Chi Minh City reached US$ 10 billion from FDI attraction in period of 2016-2017, resulting the locality created trust for foreign investors.
Although Vietnam is a large exporter, it still depends on foreign enterprises. This is the reason why the city Party chief desired overseas Vietnamese in Japan to cooperate, support and contribute solutions to help Vietnamese enterprises.
Vietnam and Japan have a deep strategic partnership; and the sunrise country is one of the two biggest investors of Vietnam, affirmed Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan.
Through the reception, Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan hoped that Vietnamese businesses in particular and overseas Vietnamese in Japan in general would pay more contributions for the country’s development.

According to Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Mai Khanh, a lecturer of Tokyo University, Ho Chi Minh City needed to build connection programs between overseas Vietnamese in worldwide countries.
Many comments and questions about mechanisms to attract young talent people were noted at the meeting.
Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City will set up address to receive investors, seek cooperation projects in Ho Chi Minh City or students who want to present their contributions for the city’s development. In addition, the locality will research investment promotion programs with Japanese and overseas Vietnamese in Japan.
Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan shared the visit is to learn models and experiences, aiming to develop the city in particular and the country in general.
As plan, the city delegation will learn experiences of building modern urban areas applying science and high technology production.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan desired overseas Vietnamese in Japan would share experience and have practical contributions in the city’s development strategy, .
