The leader stressed that the visit aimed to affirm efforts and goodwill of Ho Chi Minh City for strengthening as well as tightening friendship and cooperative ties between the city with Champasak province and the country’s localities.
The visit is part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary since Vietnam and Laos had co-signed Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977- 2017) and the 55th establishment anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (September 5, 1962- 2017), added the city leader.

Mr. Tat Thanh Cang desired the localities will continue strengthening experience exchange about Party development and boosting tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general and Ho Chi Minh city and Champasak province in particular.
Secretary Bounthong Divixay said that the opening of the Ho Chi Minh City Days in Champasak 2017, which was opened on June 25, contributed to deepen a special relationship between the two countries hoping that the two sides would continue maintaining and developing the good traditional relations.
In the previous time, the cooperation relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Champasak province had achieved good results in education, culture and economy sectors.
The Laotian leader expressed his gratitude for assistances of Vietnam, and desired to develop further the relationship in the upcoming years, saying that the localities will continue adopting memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the HCMC People’s Committee and Champasak for the term of 2016- 2020.
Earlier, the city delegation attended in the opening ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Days in Champasak 2017.
