Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, deputy secretary of the city Party Committee; Than Thi Thu, head of the committee's Department of Propaganda and Training; Nguyen Van Ranh, head of the Party Committee’s mass mobilization department were among the leaders who attended the event.

The city is home to more than 5,000 veterans who served in the anti-French resistance war, including over 400 soldiers and 250 volunteers who took part in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Ha said she hoped war veterans would continue to promote the good traditions of Uncle Ho's soldiers and set an example for the younger generations to follow.

Other meetings, seminars, and art events to mark the Dien Bien Phu Victory were also held in the city by the High Command of Military Zone 7, the Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam–Laos Friendship Association, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
