The first shipping containers of the year were unloaded at Cat Lai Port, HCMC on January 30 by the Saigon New Port Company.
Politburo member Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee (name?) and other leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and Navy army attended the unloading to wish workers a happy new year.
The company is ranked 34th among international container ports with largest volume of custom clearance cargo, said company director Admiral Cum Major General Nguyen Dang Nghiem. The port has sufficient infrastructure to unload vessels up to 40,000 tons.
The Saigon New Port Company will focus on sustainable port growth and enhance logistic service activities in 2014. The company will also speed up construction of Hai Phong International Container Port for operation.
The company has an important role in the country’s socioeconomic growth, said Party Secretary Hai. He wishes good health and prosperous lives for the company staff for the New Year.
