Can Gio District repairs damage caused by rainstorm

Chairman Quan issued instructions while he was inspecting Ca Chay Hamlet in An Thoi Dong Commune of Can Gio District, which has suffered immense damage from the sudden squall that destroyed many homes in the district.

He asked the district authorities to call for assistance from local residents to clear streets and repair damaged houses so that the affected people can have a place to stay at the earliest.

Schools whose roofs got blown off should begin repair or rebuilding work immediately to ensure students safety.

The HCMC Department of Construction must report to the People’s Committee on the project for relocating residents of Ca Chay Hamlet. 

According to the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention in Can Gio District, the rainstorm on March 15 injured five people; collapsed and damaged 64 houses and two schools.

The electricity supply in Ca Chay Hamlet has been completely cut off. The sudden rainstorm flooded streets and uprooted about 1,000 square metres of mangrove tree area.

The heavy rainstorm also blew off roofs of about 250 homes and schools in Districts 2, 9, Binh Chanh and Thu Duc.
