Bus driver arrested for fatal road crash

Police in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue have taken into custody a bus driver, in connection with a fatal traffic accident in which five people were killed on 1A Highway in Phu Loc District early yesterday morning.

As per Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, head of the district police, the bus driver, 39-year-old Tran Kim Tuyen, belonging to the northern province of Phu Tho was driving the bus on the wrong side of the road and as a result rammed into a truck.

The crash killed five people instantly and injured six others in the bus, which was travelling from Da Nang to Hue. The accident led to a   three hour long traffic jam on the highway.

The provincial authorities of Thua Thien-Hue have compensated VND3 million to each of the dead victims’ families and VND1 million to each of the injured.
