One person died and two others were injured when a bridge collapsed in the Mekong delta province of An Giang on September 10.
The iron bridge No.15 on road 941 in district Tri Ton in the Mekong delta province of An Giang collapsed into the river at 1.30 in the afternoon on September 10, when a heavy and over-loaded truck went over it.
One witness saw a motorbike also cross the bridge at the same time. One man, yet to be identified, died on the spot and two others who were students, fell into the river. They were rescued by fellow class mates and taken to a nearby hospital.
The iron bridge No.15 is a major arterial highway with thousands of vehicles plying over it each day. The collapse of the bridge has inconvenienced thousands of people who are now using the ferry as an alternative route, and having to pay VND10,000 on every trip.
