The Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index regained on June 29 as some blue-chip stocks buoyed the market amid liquidity remained low.
The shares of 286 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange reclaimed 0.53 percent, or 2.29 points, to close at 434.6 points.
Of the index, 109 stocks gained, 106 lost, while 76 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse rose by 22 percent in volume and 38 percent in value over the previous trading session as 25.7 million shares changed hands at a value of VND465.32 billion.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, was most active share in volume with 1.3 million shares changing hands.
Tan Tao Investment & Technology Joint Stock Company (ITA) took the second rank with 896,660 shares traded.
Investment and Trading of Real Estate Joint Stock Company (ITC) chased after with 707,190 shares.
Binh Duong Mineral & Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB) rebounded 4.98 percent to close at VND46,400.
Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment Joint Stock Company 584 (NTB) capped its five-consecutive-trading-session losing streak, reversing 4.94 percent to VND8,500.
Ha Do Group Joint Stock Company (HDG) grew 4.83 percent to close at VND28,200.
Investment Commerce Fisheries Corporation (ICF) tumbled 16.25 percent to VND6,700. The company will pay dividends for the last term of 2010 to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 13 percent on July 7.
Chuong Duong Beverages Joint Stock Company (SCD) and Seaprodex Refrigeration Industry Corporation (SRF) both plunged 5 percent to close at VND22,800 and VND24,700 respectively.
Viet Nhat Medical Instrument Joint Stock Company (JVC) fell the second day, losing 4.91 percent to VND21,300.
The Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller in the north rose 0.19 percent, or 0.14 points, to finish at 74.85 points. Trading on the northern market dropped by 34 percent in volume and 33.35 percent in value over the previous trading session as 23 million shares worth VND279 billion changed hands.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares trimmed 0.01 points, or 0.03 percent, to 32.98 points. A total of 134,200 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.4 billion as of 2:15 pm local time.
