Ten individuals and groups were given certificates of merits signed by the Vietnamese Prime Minister for their active contributions to charitable activities.
They are benefactors who actively do charitable activities for long time. Dr. Le Quang Ninh, chairman of the Red Cross Society in Ho Chi Minh City, said that in 2014, benefactors˘ have donated VN325 billion(US$15,220,796) for programs to help poor people, Agent Orange victims, needy but good students and needy patients.
For the Government’s New Rural Development Plan to upgrade agricultural techniques, improve farmers’ lives and develop rural infrastructure, the municipal Red Cross Society has given 30 seedling cows to poor households in the city’s Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Binh Chanh districts with total spending of VND900 million (US$ 42,149).
In addition, the fund organizer built a bridge in Nha Be District to help improve people’s traffic. Moreover, voluntary medical worker teams provided examination, eye surgeries and gave gifts to poor patients in HCMC, provinces , Laos and Cambodia with total spending of VND55 billion(US$2,578,467)
