The donation was contributed by the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA), an inter-governmental organization established by ten ASEAN countries in November 17, 2011 under its target of facilitate cooperation and coordination among ASEAN Member States and with the United Nations and international organizations for disaster management and emergency.
30 tons of aid relief included 600 household kits, 3,000 personal hygiene products, 600 kitchen kits, one set of movable canvas containing goods, an electric generator with 16 KVA, and 300 home repair kits with total value of US$ 2.3 trillion.
As plan, the donation will be sent to flood victims in the provinces of Son La, Yen Bai and Nghe An where suffered serious damages after a week-long siege of flashflood and landslide.
On the occasion, Director of the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management Ms. Adelina Kamal shared with losses from the recent flood and the difficulties of people in effected-areas.
This is the first time that Vietnam called for assistance from the organization, added Ms. Adelina Kamal.
On the same day, the Ministry of Health launched a fund to help flood-affected people in the Northwest provinces after a week long siege of flashfloods and downpours.
Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, all staffs and officials voluntarily contributed their at least one day's salary to assist flood-affected people.
In the face of risk of infectious disease outbreaks, the ministry directed and informed about measures as well as medical donation to effectively control the unexpected outbreak.

Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council , head of the HCMC National Assembly deputy delegation Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam and Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee To Thi Bich Chau visited and offered VND 1.2 billion and rice, instant noodles, cooking oil to 30 effected-families in Mu Cang Chai district.
