Six students from Lac Hong University, who were representing Vietnam at the 11th Asia-Pacific Robocon Contest in Hong Kong (China), won the second prize after being outclassed by their Chinese opponents in the final round on August 19.
After defeating Japan’s team in the semi-finals, Vietnam entered the final round against China with the hope of winning the champion title. However, their dream was crushed due to technical errors on their robot.
Japan and Thailand shared the third prize.
Asia-Pacific Robocon Contest attracted 17 teams from 16 countries and territories in the region. Beside three main prizes, the contest organizers also gave away ‘Best Idea Award’ to host team Hong Kong (China), ‘Best Design Award’ to Malaysia and ‘Best Engineering Award’ to Thailand. Prizes from sponsors like Toyota, Panasonic, and Mabuchi Motor were given to Indonesia, Mongolia, and India.
