The Vietnamese Government will continue facilitating US companies in doing long-term business in Vietnam by improving administrative procedures and infrastructure, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said.
The PM made the statement April 12 while receiving representatives from the American Apparel Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and a number of leading US importers on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit, which he is currently attending in Washington DC.
Mr. Dung thanked the AAMA for its strong cooperative efforts with the Vietnam Textiles and Garment Association over the past several years, which has contributed to boosting Vietnam’s apparel exports to the US.
He hoped that the AAMA would support Vietnam in fighting against trade barriers and by providing “early warnings” about such risks.
Representatives of the association and US groups confirmed they would continue making long-term investments in Vietnam and hoped the Vietnamese Government would provide favorable conditions for them in importing and exporting goods.
PM Dung the same day witnessed the signing of a cooperative agreement between the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Industry Group and CitiBank on financing a bauxite mining project in the Central Highlands’ Province of Lam Dong.
He also observed the signing of the minutes on long-term cooperation between the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and the US’s GE Oil and Gas.
