At the serminar, the Vietnam Environment Administration said that Vietnamese Government has issued policies to implement strategies for sustainable development, link socio-economic development with environmental protection and form a financial support mechanism for environmental protection projects and activities through the Environmental Protection Fund.
Some businesses have keened on and invested in production of compostable bags made from maize starch, biodegradable bags, kitchen set as spoon, knife and fork, gloves and paper cups, etc to replace plastic products.
According to President of Eurocham Mr. Nicolas Audier, the plastic waste treatment needed efforts of the Government, businesses and people, especially promoting public-private cooperation in the sector to create new opportunities.
On the occasion of the World Environment Day, under the supports of the Vietnam Environment Administration and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Hanwha Business Group, one of the top-ten business enterprises in South Korea operating in field of technologies and energies, which launched the “Clean Up Mekong” campaign in Vinh Long province and offered two solar powered boats to overcome the water pollution caused by floating trash in the river.
