The ‘Vietnam Rising’ Milk Fund on December 8 organized the final distribution of 33,000 glasses of milk for underprivileged children and those under the social welfare bracket in Cam Khe District in the Northern Province of Phu Tho.
These 33,000 glasses of milk for poor and disadvantaged children will be the last to be distributed under the milk fund program.
So far more than 42,000 glasses of milk have bee distributed to poor children in Phu Tho Province.
This program was launched in 2008 with support from Vietnam Children Sponsor Fund, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).
This is the fifth year of the program, which was aimed to reduce malnutrition in children nationwide. Through the program, Vietnamese children were being provided with one glass of milk a day.
During the last five years, the fund provided around 286 million glasses of milk worth VND75 billion (US$3.5 million) to disadvantaged children across the country.
