The Vietnamese U-19 football team’s dream for the U19 Asia Cup 2007 was dashed after it lost 2-0 to Indonesia at Ho Chi Minh City’s Thanh Long Stadium yesterday.

Being Vietnam's second consecutive loss after the team was beaten by Australia two days earlier, this defeat spelled an end to any hope for the Cup.

The Vietnamese players favored defense as they did against Australia, but were unable to prevent Indonesian attacks when Harmoko scored a first goal in the 58th minute.

The home team gained a slight advantage in the 75th minute when Indonesia’s Saputra received a second yellow card and was sent off.

However, any hope was dashed when Novriansyah scored a second goal in the 90th minute to secure Indonesia’s 2-0 victory.
