Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper, the organizer of the annual Golden Ball Vote, presented the 2007 Silver Ball prize to Dong Tam Long An Club’s midfielder Nguyen Minh Phuong on Monday during the match between his club and Nam Dinh.
Deputy Editor-in-chief Hoang Van Khang handed out the VND15-million prize to the Silver Ball title holder at Long An Stadium during the match, where his team won 2-1.
On March 29, representatives of the newspapers will present the prize for the Junior Player of the Year 2007 to Nguyen Thanh Long Giang of T&T Ha Noi Club during his team’s game with An Giang.
The next day, Sai Gon Giai Phong will hand out three more awards – the Golden Ball, Bronze Ball, and the Foreign Footballer of the Year – to Le Cong Vinh of Song Lam Nghe An, Nguyen Vu Phong of Binh Duong and Almeida of Da Nang, respectively. The matches are Song Lam Nghe An vs. Boss Binh Dinh, Binh Duong vs. Hoang Anh Gia Lai, and Da Nang vs. Southern Steel - Saigon Port.
As for the women’s prizes, the Golden Ball prize will go to Doan Thi Kim Chi of Ho Chi Minh City. Dao Thi Mien of Ha Tay will receive the Silver Ball prize and Tran Kim Hong of HCMC will take the Bronze Ball prize. The awards will be presented to them during a March 26 game between Viet Nam and Taiwan in the qualifying round of the Asian Cup.
Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper has organized the Golden Ball vote annually since 2005 to honor the best players of each year, including foreign footballers.
