Men Futsal's Board of Coaches has been immediately sacked due to disapppointing perfomances at the 24th SEA Games

Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) Vice-Chairman Vu Quang Vinh announced so, saying the board is responsible for impeding players’ performances in the run-up to the 24th SEA Games, mainly by causing the team’s three best players, Tran Trung Kien, Nguyen Bao Quan and Le Tuan Tu, to drop out of the competition by refusing to go to Thailand.

As a result, the team did not gain a ticket to compete in the semifinal.

Assistant coach Nguyen Hong Son is being investigated over accusations of nepotism which deprived players of appropriate placement in the team’s 24th SEA Games line-up. Son’s actions are said to be key reason behind the team’s failure at the SEA Games.

The VFF also directed all members in the Men Futsal's Board of Coaches to report on their work for the run-up and follow-up to the SEA Games, focusing on their explanations for their apparently ill-advised choices of strategic line-ups.

The VFF also fined the same three players VND10 million (US$625) each for their absence from SEA Games.

The players will also have to refund all their related expenses, for meals, accommodation, bonuses and transport fees provided by VFF, and their VFF-originated incomes during training with the national squad last year.

Finally, the VFF banned them from football for a year.
