The first match between Hai Phong Cement (HPC) and The Cong took place on Lach Tray field in the southern An Giang province.

While TC only gained one score thanks to their foreign midfielder Edene at the seventh minute, HPC achieved two at the 11th minute thanks to Fabiano and at the 22nd to Oliveira.

No more scores were earned until the game ended in favor of HPC.

Ha Noi ACB (HNA) after getting one point from a draw to Hoa Phat Ha Noi (HPHN) on the first round, again only achieved another point for their nil result in a match with Halida Thanh Hoa (HTH) on Jan. 13.

The third match that day was on Thong Nhat field between Southern-Steel Saigon Port (SSSP) and Pijico Song Lam Nghe An (PSLNA).

While achieving a two-nil victory over PSLNA, SSSP Coach Lu Dinh Tuan was modest about his team’s achievement and attributed much to luck.

Nha Trang ground was the venue for defending champion Khataco Khanh Hoa (KKH) and Becamex Binh Duong (BBD).

Not gaining many scores but KKH proved they were still strong enough to pocket the 2008 Cup. KKH easily overwhelmed BBD and took control of the field during the 90 minutes. One score was made at the 84th minute thanks to a replacement by striker Nguyen Anh Duc.

Binh Dinh was luckier than their previous match when opening the score thanks to Carlos at the 15th minute in their match against Dong Tam Long An. However, at the 84th minute, they suffered a loss. Each earned one point.

The sixth match was an insipid competition between Dam Phu My Nam Dinh (DPMND) and Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) Dang Nang.

The only score belonged to DPMND at the 65th minute following a penalty shot.

The last match was between Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) and Hoa Phat Ha Noi (HPHN) in Pleiku. Though putting much effort in attacking and achieving an opening score, HAGL only achieved one point for their final draw result.

HAGL’s foreign player Thonglao did an excellent free kick to break through the HPHN goal at the 36th minute. However HPHN’s Van Vinh evened the score with his accurate volley at the 63rd minute.
