A dark green Rolls-Royce Phantom 2008 model yesterday arrived at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport before being delivered to its owner at US$1.3 million.

The owner - Ms. Duong Thi Bach Diep, director of Diep Bach Duong Real Estate Company - said she had ordered this car from the UK for around US$500,000.
But she had to pay up to US$1.3 million to cover additional taxes including a 60% import tariff, a 50% luxury excise tax, and a 10% VAT.
Viet Nam has so far imported six Rolls-Royce Phantoms, five from the US and one from the UK.
Rolls-Royce Phantom is an ultra-luxury saloon automobile made by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, a BMW subsidiary, in the United Kingdom. It was launched in 2003 and is the first Rolls-Royce branded car made under BMW ownership.
