Two banian trees in Ben Tre recognized as National Heritage Tree

Authority and residents of Phuoc Tuy commune, Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province yesterday held a solemn ceremony to receive title of national heritage tree for two ancient banian trees.

Two banian trees were planted in 1820 on the ground of  Phuoc Tuy Temple. The leaves canopies covered around 30 meters.

The ancient banian trees are considered as historical evidences for the hundred year old place.

Currently, there are three ancient trees in Ben Tre recognized as national heritage tree. Last year, a white apricot tree in Phu Tu Temple, Phu Hung commune, Ben Tre province was also recognized as a Vietnam heritage tree.
