Vietnam’s trade deficit fell to US$700 million in February, down for the third consecutive month, according to the General Statistics Office.

The country exported goods and services worth $3.7 billion this month while imports fell to $4.4 billion.
 
The GSO said export and import turnover in February had reduced rather sharply compared to last month, due to the Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays.
 
Exports have posted a year-on-year decrease of 2.2 percent to reach US$8.713 billion in the first two months. The export of precious stones and metals decreased 98.1 percent, coffee by 26.8 percent, rice by 19.7 percent and crude oil by 15.4 percent.
 
Meanwhile, imports rose 35.7 percent to $10.358 billion, with that of normal metals increasing by 114.1 percent and autos by 110.8 percent.
