Support for guest workers after return: ministry

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has announced a program to provide VND50 billion (US$2.5 million) to Vietnamese workers who were forced to return from Libya before the expiry of their contracts at the beginning of this year

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has announced a program to provide VND50 billion (US$2.5 million) to Vietnamese workers who were forced to return from Libya before the expiry of their contracts at the beginning of this year.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hoa said the program plan would be submitted to the Government for approval next week.

Hoa added that the money would be extracted from the Overseas Employment Support Fund.

Under the plan, labourers who returned home before expiry of their contracts would receive priority to the fund.

Currently, many domestic and foreign enterprises are liquidating contracts of laborers who have returned from Libya and are helping in creating new jobs for them.

Thousands of Vietnamese workers had to return home from Libya earlier this year due to unrest in that African country.
