According to the customs officials, the batches of medical equipment was imported into Ho Chi Minh City since June, 2018 but its custom document has changed many times.
Specifically, at first, the receiver was Quang Phat Company but later the receiver was adjusted to be Hoai Nhan Import-Export Commercial Service Company in Tan Phu District.
In the end of August, 2018, a representative of Hoai Nhan Company wrote in custom declaration that it has imported cooling equipment worth over VND130 million ($5,581 ) yet it has not completed formality to clear the batches.
Accordingly, the customs officers carried out verification and opened the batches that contained second-hand medical equipment. As per the medical regulations, these second-hand medical equipment are banned to import into Vietnam.
The medical equipment estimated worth dozen billions of Vietnamese dong includes two automated biological testing machines, one automated blood machine, one automated immunize testing machine and one machine for testing diabetes.
Noticeably, the initial investigation showed that Hoai Nhan Company is not located in the address which it declared in the document.
