Long lines of vehicles jammed the Hanoi Highway in front of Suoi Tien (the Fairy Stream) entertainment and cultural park in district 9. Most of the crowds were returning from the beaches of Nha Trang and Vung Tau City.

Thousand of vehicles thronged the entry roads leading to the city causing a severe traffic gridlock in front of the Mien Tay bus station (with departures to the Mekong delta provinces) and the Mien Dong bus station (with departures to the eastern provinces).

Thuong Thanh Hai, deputy head of the Mien Dong bus station, said that almost 40,000 people returned to the city from their hometowns or vacation spots.

At the entry road to HCMC on National Highway 1A, incoming traffic jammed the road with people returning from the Mekong Delta region.

However, even though the streets remained crowded, no serious mishap occurred except that traffic was double than on normal days.
