More than 20 percent of the country’s whole population need social support, reported at a meeting held by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in the central province of Khanh hoa’s Nha Trang City on April 20.
As per the Ministry’s report, around 9.4 million senior persons; 7,2 million disabled;1,5 million children from difficult families and 1.5 million households need annual irregular assistance. For year, despite the economic crisis, Vietnamese government has still provided assistance to these special groups.
More than 2.6 health insurance cards had been given to needy people; over 2 million senior people received scheduled medical check-up and around 770,00 disabled people was given financial support per month.
However, there has been shortcoming in social sponsor including shortage of social workers and imperfect policies.
