Journalist Le Tien Tuyen from Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper received the third prize at the Press Awards 2011, for his article “36 year attachment to Con Dao Island” in Ho Chi Minh City on March 7.
The Press Awards honours people in ordinary everyday life and in businesses, and is organised annually by the HCMC Journalist Association.
The Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper won the first prize for the story “Heading to Ton Duc Thang Award 2011”.
The organisers also gave away one second prize, four third prizes and 11 encouragement prizes.
The Press Awards 2011 committee received more than 300 articles from nearly 30 newspapers in the city.
Winning works were chosen for topics covering different backgrounds such as business, application of new science and technology methods and innovative new fields.
