Relapse of outbreaks of hand-foot-mouth in Vietnam

As per the Ministry of Health’s statistic, by October , over 65,000 cases of hand-foot-mouth have been reported across the country. Worse, nearly 30,000 people were hospitalized, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.

As per medical workers, hand-foot-mouth is an acute viral infection that usually affects babies and children. It may lead to a big epidemic. The disease occurs year- round and the number of patients usually increases in March to May and September to October.
HFMD usually begins with a low-grade fever and general fatigue. A rash of tiny, painful red spots inside the mouth, on the palms of the hands or on the fingers, on the soles of the feet or on the toes or on the buttocks will appear within a couple of days and will soon begin to blister and sometimes form ulcers.
Most of case develop the illness recover in 7 to 10 days with minimal or no medical intervention; however, in some cases , the virus affects the heart, lung or brain to cause a serious inflammation of the heart, lung or brain, which is fatal in some cases without timely treatment.
