Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung kicked off the construction of Vam Cong Bridge in Lap Vo District in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on September 10.

The Prime Minister stressed that Vam Cong Bridge plays an important role in the development of the region and will also meet demands of traveling and goods transport, and promote economy, culture, healthcare, education and national defense.
Vam Cong Bridge and other works under the Central Mekong Delta Region Connectivity Project will establish a transport system creating advantages for trade and transportation among provinces and cities.
The 2.97km cable Vam Cong Bridge across the Hau River will link Lap Vo District in Dong Thap Province and Thot Not District in Can Tho City.
Total investment capital of the construction is about US$271.58 million which comes from the South Korea’s official development assistance (ODA), and part capital from the Vietnamese Government.
The construction is expected to complete in four years.
