Pursuant to the Official Document No. 1094 / TTg-CN, the Provincial People's Committee will closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City in carrying out the project in accordance with current regulations.
Construction of the two- tower cable stayed bridge is expected to begin in 2020.
The bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province has the total length of 3,782 meters including 650 meter-long, 37.7 meter- wide main bridge allowing six lanes for motor vehicles and three mixed lanes, 1.5 meter- wide pedestrian space for each sides.
Because this is the large-scale construction project with total investment capital of nearly VND 7,200 billion (around US$ 310 million), Dong Nai province proposed to separate the Cat Lai Bridge construction project into three component projects in case of the unfeasible implementation under BOT form.
In particular, HCMC will carry out the 623 meter- long road section leading to the bridge in HCMC under Built- transfer (BT) form while the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province will undertake 263 meter- long road section leading to the bridge under BOT form.
Accordingly, the bridge construction is expected to contribute to not only solving traffic congestion passing through current ferry, reducing a high volume of vehicles and traffic congestion for the Ho Chi Minh City- Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway but also connecting the traffic network of the South’s triangular economic zone including Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria- Vung Tau and Dong Nai.
